How To Handle A Roof Leak When It Rains

Winter weather in Southern California typically means more slightly chilly days, and sometime even rain. We're not as accustomed to rain and other inclement weather in this area, so your home or property may not be well equipped to handle the upcoming rain. In the event that rain water migrates and finds it way inside your home (whether it be via a roof leak or sliding door or window), there are some measures that you can take to keep the water damage in your home at a minimum. 

If the water is leaking from the roof or ceiling, place an empty bucket or trash can where the water is falling to catch the water and keep it from traveling throughout your home. If water is coming in from a sliding door or window, a bucket may not be able to do you much help. You can try sealing the door or window with trash bags and duct tape to seal the water outside as best you can. You may also want to put trash bags on the floor along with towels. The towels will help with soaking up the water while the trash bags can act as a sort of sealant for the floor.
